In Peru, the second language taught in all schools is English. Although this is a requirement for students, there is a chronic shortage of English teachers. Our volunteers spend time teaching children conversational English as well as assisting local teachers with lesson plans and teaching materials. There is a lot of creative freedom with your lessons. The most valuable activity sought by orphanages is for Volunteers toteach English to the kids. Books are often scarce at orphanages, but thepermanent English teacher usually can provide you with a standard lesson book tofollow. read more »

Volunteers in this program teach English to children in governmentschools. You can also teach in other disciplines such as math, science, music,geography, art, dance, etc. One volunteer even taught a group of children circusacrobatics for 6 weeks! read more »
